LILI - the Learning in Law Initiative
Established in 1998, the Learning in Law Initiative (LILI) was a network of law teachers with an interest in learning and teaching issues.
The aims of LILI were to:
- enable discussion and the exchange of ideas about learning and teaching in law
- share good practice
- disseminate information about policy developments in higher education
- support law schools as they reviewed and evaluated their teaching programmes
Law teachers were invited to register their learning and teaching interests to become a LILI member - you can still register with us and keep up to date with developments in learning and teaching in law via our registration form.
LILI representatives (LILI reps) in each law school, nominated by the head of department and usually the member of staff responsible for learning and teaching, promoted the LILI network and UKCLE work to their colleagues - this role is now being undertaken by our key contacts.
The LILI conference
Eight LILI conferences were held from 1999 to 2006 - papers are available from the submenu to the right. Alison Bone (University of Brighton) was the Chair of LILI throughout its lifetime - in The LILI conference: a reflection she looks back on what made it so popular.
In 2007 LILI was relaunched as the Learning in Law Annual Conference (or LILAC), a two day celebration of legal education combining two separate events - the LILI conference and the Vocational Teachers Forum.
